On the occasion of the World Earth Day, an ecological campaign was organized in several places ih Gračanica municipality. Mayor Srđan Popović took part in the action in Laplje Selo too.
The ecological action was carried out in Sušica, Gornja and Donja Gušterica, Dobrotin and Laplje Selo. The organizer is the Municipal Inspection Department in cooperation with departments of urbanism and environmental protection and public service, which provided hygienic gloves, bags, cleaning materials, flower seedlings and necessary soil on this occasion.
“The aim of the action is to strengthen the awareness of the planet Earth and people’s respect towards the environment and nature”, says Sandra Blanuša, an environmental protection inspector in the Municipality of Gračanica.
The campaign began with the cleaning of the riverbed in Sušica, then with the participation of volunteers and citizens, collection of garbage and planting of flowers and ornamental plants continued in Gornja Gušterica and Dobrotin, while the children of Elementary School “Knez Lazar” participated in the action in Donja Gušterica.
“Gornja Gušterica is one of the cleaner villages in the municipality of Gračanica, there is almost no landfill. An environmental problem is a river that brings garbage from Janjevo, but we have promises that it will be cleared. Thanks to the engagement of the public service department, the public areas in the village are regularly maintained and we have no objection to their work, but the locals themselves should be more careful”, says representative of Gornja Gušterica, Slađan Mitić.
In the afternoon, the action was continued in Laplje Selo at the location near the residential buildings and the hospital. By planting flowers, the Mayor of Gračanica municipality took part in space refinement in front of the hospital.
“By this action we want to point out the responsibility that we all have towards the environment in which we live. With such and other actions, the municipal leadership is striving to initiate positive changes, point out the importance of environmental protection and how much it affects our health. We have to take care of where and how we throw garbage, and I hope that after this action, our citizens will realize that”, Popović said
The action of cleaning, planting flowers and other ornamental plants in all other places in Gračanica municipality will continue on June 5th on the World Environmental Day.
