On the occasion of the Istog/Istok liberation day and under the auspices of the Mayor, a solemn academy was held. Activities were organized by the department of culture and sport within the Directorate of Education and culture.

After congratulating the citizens of Istog on the occasion of the 20 June, the liberation day, Mayor Rugova stated: “We are here to solemnly mark the 20 June, the liberation day of our municipality. In this particular day, we recall the hard period of our struggle for freedom and independence. We recall Dr. Ibrahim Rugova who laid the foundations of Kosovo statehood at the same time we recall the glorious epopee of KLA led by the legendary hero Adem Jashari. We recall as well the intervention of the North Atlantic Alliance”.
At the end, Mayor Rugova once more memorialized the death of former and the eternal Mayor of Istog/Istok, who left a huge gap for Istog/Istok and Kosovo.
On behalf of the from KLA war – emerged associations, the Major Naim Gjuraj after he congratulated the Istog/k citizens on the occasion of the liberation day expressed his dissatisfaction regarding the treatment of the martyr’s families from both local and central level institutions.
“We hope that the political spectrum will abandon their political interests and unite whenever the interest of country is in question”.
