HAMZA BEDRI

Bedri Hamza was born on November 8, 1963 in Upper Klina.

He graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University of Pristina in 1987, is a Master of Economics and PhD Candidate at the University of Tirana.

Bedri Hamza started working as Head of Accounting and Finance in Lead Metallurgy, in “Trepçe” in the years 1987-1990 as well as held various positions in private businesses (1990-1998).

He was the director of the Directorate of Public Services in the Municipal Assembly of Mitrovica (2000 – 2003); Deputy Minister for Economy and Finance, Government of Kosovo (2008 – 2011); Minister of Finance, Government of Kosovo (2011 – 2013); Governor of the Central Bank (26/03/2013 – 09/2017); Minister of Finance, Government of Kosovo (2017 – 2020); Deputy in the Parliament of Kosovo (2020).

Head of the Parliamentary Group and chairman of the Committee for the Supervision of Public Finances as well as Member of the Committee for Budgets and Finances.

Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo (February 2021- October 2021).

Professor at the AAB University in Pristina from 2017 onwards, where he teaches the subjects: Macroeconomics 2 and Banking Management.

After the victory as Mayor of the Municipality in the October 2021 elections, he gave up the mandate of the deputy.

He assumed the position of Mayor on November 26, 2021.

This is his first mandate as mayor of Mitrovica.

He speaks English and Serbo-Croatian as foreign languages.

Bedri Hamza lives in Mitrovica, is married and has three children.
